Blu Ray player will not play Blu rays....

It gives this error instead...

You input cannot be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///E\'. Check the log for details.

I have tried playing the same movies on a VLC and Power DVD 10

When I insert a regular DVD into the drive it sometimes crashes explorer as well.

The reason is that VLC and Windows have never licensed the Blu-Ray codecs.

Check out PowerDvd for blu-ray support. Its not free by any means, but it works well.

If your Bluray player is also a burner, I'd suggest getting Nero Platinum, it will play and burn blurays. It's what I use. Newegg and Amazon will often have it on sale for between $20 and $50.

says disk may be corrupted have tried 2 disks with that same error...
error code: 101

with Power DVD 15

No it is not a burner... I am simply trying to play back movies on the player... it does play blue rays (well is supposed to) but right now it is not playing blue ray or DVD movies...

Then it should have had no issues reading a BD disc with PowerDVD.

I agree but it will not. With Nero it plays DVDs but you have to have full version to play blue Rays. So I do not know if that would work.

Ok... I came very close to buying PowerDVD about a month ago, and at the last second, I decided I didn't really need it anyways. Everything I am watching is streamed in, and I don't need to start a collection of discs.

Sorry its not working out for you. I guess to some degree, I might have gotten lucky. Because I do have both a Blu-Ray burner and a second DVD burner here. I can burn data Blu-Rays with Windows. But movies are an entirely different animal.

Unless something has changed in the 2015 version (I have the 2014) you would need the Platinum version as the "Classic" will burn but not play bluray. I had the 2010 Classic and was pretty ticked off when I burned my first bluray movie and couldn't play it.

i have that very blu-ray burner and it burns and plays blu-rays with no issues and not using anything but it's own drivers and VLC. Go to LG's web and download the latest firmware and re-install it.
Same with VLC - the last release of VLC wouldn't play blu-ray movies when i installed it 6 months ago, but updated VLC and all issues went away
