I am little bit confused here. Prices in my region are:

1. GTX 970 ($400)
2. R9 390 ($500)
3. R9 390X ($600)
4. GTX 980 ($700)

Processor which I will be running it with is i7 4790k. I bought M12II-750 EVO as I was earlier thinkng to buy GTX 970 and SLI after an year. And for PC, I won't be upgrading anything for many years to come.

Suggestions please.

I will be playing at 1920x1080 for a month and then at 2560x1080. But for me, it's not about what reso I will be playing at. I would like to get which has got most worth out of these.

Thinking out loud:

1920 x 1080 ~ 2.07 million pixels

2560 x 1080 ~ 2.76 million pixels

1080p wide screen (2560 x 1080) has 33% more pixels than 1080p (1920 x 1080).

GTX 970 / R9 390 are perfect for 1080p (non wide screen) @ 60 Hz.

* I personally haven't been a fan of the GTX 980's price-to-performance since the release of the 980 Ti.

* A quick search of NewEgg shows that almost all of these 21:9 1080p monitors are 60 Hz.

* If money were no object, of course the 980 Ti would be an amazing choice. But since that wasn't listed in your choices, I would recommend getting a GTX 970 that comes with a fantastic overclock and then you may even have the option to push the overclock a little further if necessary.

Recommendation: Buy a

MSI GTX 970 4G Gaming OR

EVGA GTX 970 FTW

* If you upgrade to a greater resolution in the future, and the card starts to lag, you can add a second GTX 970 if you want to. Your 750 watts is surely enough to do so.

Thanks. I was thinking the same earlier until I saw the Ashes Of Singularity DirectX 12 benchmarks of Nvidia vs AMD graphics card. Those benchmarks showed a great boost for AMD cards. That's where this confusion started. Also I am bit worried about the VRAM of GTX 970 as many have been getting frame shuttering while accessing the slow 0.5 GB of VRAM.

Hmm... all I can say is that while I was playing Witcher 3 and GTA 5 on 1920 x 1200 resolution (16:10), I didn't notice any stuttering. As for Ashes of the Singularity, I've read the reviews, but isn't the release date still unknown?

I may take recycling PC components for granted, but when I'm done with a piece of hardware, I list it on Ebay and it sells the same day. I sold a Intel 750 AIC 400 GB PCIe SSD, and four Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD's in the same week. Then I used the money I made in my PayPal account for whatever new hardware I wanted. Granted, I live in the US, so it may be easier for me to do than where you are located.

If you're worried about VRAM then get the R9 390. I've never owned that card, so I can't speak intelligently about it. All I know about it is from reviews and recorded game play. But I had nothing but positive experiences with my MSI GTX 970 4G Gaming card. The only issue I had was with the dismal process that MSI created for the $10 mail-in rebate on NewEgg. But the card itself, I loved.

That benchmark seems to be a bit controversial, what about the Unreal 4 DX12 bench? Does that give a similar result?

I don't know about that either. But I don't personally put a lot of faith in synthetic benchmarks. There are certain gamers whose performance reviews I trust, but benchmarks are whatever. I seriously doubt these issues will be a problem in 1080p gaming. No matter which card you buy, you're going to have a great experience. I see people on this site that have archaic systems and can only play at 1366 x 768; you'd be surprised. You're in a better position than most.

Totally off subject, there is going to be a VLAN party online in approximately 3 1/2 hours. It's currently 6:37 am EST in New York City. At 10 am, is when the event starts. I believe one of the games will be Rocket League. I honestly don't remember what all the others will be, the the link below will lead you there. It should be a lot of fun. Feel free to join in.
