Hello there!

I'm currently about 6 hours into fixing my hard drive. It all began with it unplugging itself. After I noticed that it didn't show up in the explorer, drive manager, diskpart and even the bios I tested the sata port on which I used the drive with 2 of my archiv hard drives which I always have unplugged in a shelf. They both worked like a charm (They better be..). I tried every single drive and sata combination I could think of but I all went down to my main data hard drive being the problem.

So I got my 3,5" hard drive enclosure and connected the drive via usb. And it actually worked! ..for about 10 seconds. Oh and again, my archiv drives worked perfectly fine with the hdd enclosure. I started googling like a madman and found several solution to my problem, but I wasn't able to execute all of them since my drive would always disconnect itself after 10 seconds. Again it's not only gone in the explorer, but in the device manager, diskpart, the earth and our galaxy. No trace of it whatsoever. My data is still there btw; I was able to click myself to some random data and open it before it closed all my windows again.

At this point I probably tried everything what you can find after going 4275 pages deep into several google searches. And this is where I'm at right now..

I really hope I can find a solution here. Preferably one that doesn't have me loosing all my data.. it is currently my main data hard drive after all. Oh, and please excuse any mistakes I made, english isn't my native language.

Thanks in advance!

Hey there, grndelusion.

It does sound like a pretty unfortunate situation, indeed. You did pretty well in terms of troubleshooting, but there's one more thing left to try - connect the drive to another computer, to see if you're able to backup your files. If that doesn't work, you could try accessing it via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, to see if it works better, although this does sound like it's a hardware issue probably and it might not work, but you have nothing to lose here. Unfortunately if neither data recovery software, nor any of the other solutions I've suggested and the ones you've already tried - work, I'm afraid that the only option you're left with, is a data recovery company.

Good luck! I hope you're able to get your data back...
