Hey guys, I've created a total of 3 threads the past 3 days, this is my 4th, on this exact topic So I have a basic Microsoft Keyboard 200 for my new system. I know it's not recommended for gaming, but I had to cut corners for money reasons at the moment. Anyways, I have been experiencing this problem for the past 2 days, but in coincidence, I've only installed the software that I've been experiencing the problem in the past 2 days. My keyboard tends to disconnect when I use a program where I have to press 2 buttons at the same time, I don't know if this is just a coincidence or what. That's basically every program I know, but what I mean is in software like GIMP and video games where you have to hold a button or two for a long duration of time because you have to or need to. Also I have Windows 8.1 Pro for Students
I have tried EVERY solution I've seen to this. Plugging it into USB 2.0 instead of 3.0 and vice versa, taking out more devices from the USB hub in the back, changing the power settings in the device manager and the power settings program, checking if the USB ports are providing enough power, which is the only one where I run into problems. In the device manager, for both the generic USB hub, it says that the slots are open, but on the device manager, it says that my keyboard and mouse and wireless adapter is indeed installed. I just don't know what to do. In total I am now using 3 out of the 6 ports on the motherboard which I cannot change because that's where I plug in my mouse/keyboard and wireless adapter.
Really it's not that big of a deal if it's just surfing the web and if it doesn't affect my experience too much, but it doesn't. In GIMP, I've set my personal hotkeys so that it is customized to my experience, but after or shortly after I heard the sound of a disconnecting USB device, all of the hotkeys were reset, but when I looked at the shortcuts, nothing was changed. I think that it was because after the keyboard reconnected, it had to reconfigure itself and it created an error with GIMP. It's not a SUPER BIG disconnecting time, it only takes probably 2 seconds at the most for the keyboard to reconnect, but it's really annoying to hear the sound of a disconnecting USB device every 5-10 minutes. Thank You!
