On a tight budget and buying son an HP Pavilion laptop for school, but he also wants to play League of Legends. Will above processor and graphics card be good enough? It's running Windows 10 with 8GB DDR3L RAM. Also will there be much of a difference to the game if I get the HD Brightview WLED-backlit (1366x768) or spring for the Full HD (1920x1080) screen? Also since he will play on wireless network, will the ac WLAN be better than the b/g/n WLAN? xfinity download speeds at his apartment are up to 75 mbps. Sorry so many questions, but I want to cover everything in one post and don't know anything PC gaming requirements.

Thanks

1920x1080 allows you to see more of the game world compared 1366x768. But it is also a lot more stressful on the GPU. However, LoL has pretty low system requirements so your son should be able to max out the graphics. It also means you have a bigger desktop which means you can see more information on the screen at once. It would be useful to have something like Word take up the left half of the screen while a browser takes up the right half of the screen when writing a research paper.

If $500 is within your budget, then I recommend the following Acer Aspire which has a Core i5-5200u, nVidia 940m and 1080p screen. It would be more powerful than the Toshiba laptop...
