I want to buy a new graphic card, i was going with GTX 980 but when i saw the R9 390X i got really confused about the amount of memory in the R9 390x and it was even cheaper than the 980, so what should i buy ?

Both cards trade places depending on game title. The 390x requires a higher capacity power supply than the 980 and uses more power. If gaming is your main priority then I'd go with the 980. If other OpenCL processes are a priority then go with the AMD card. If CUDA is a requirement, then again, the Nivida card is better. For a strictly gaming machine there is little doubt that the Nvidia card is the better option, but the 390x IS less expensive and if you already have a power supply that meets the recommended criteria for capacity and is of high quality, being Tier 1 or 2, then the AMD card is a really fair option.
I would personally go with the GTX 980 as it has a much lower TDP and is considerably cooler than those AMD cards. Not only this but the GTX 980 is better than the R9 in most aspects as the R9 390X is still just a 290 but rebranded and slightly improved.
