can intel core 2 duo e6550 support ddr3 graphics card?

Solution
Yes, vram of the graphics card has nothing to do with the ram the mobo supports. Only the graphics card communicates to the vram. All the mobo needs is pcie.

No, unfortunately that chipset supports only DDR2 memory. However, you can get other LGA775 boards that support DDR3. If I were you, however, I'd forget about getting a new motherboard and save up for an entirely new system.

Ugh, I wish I'd posted after he edited the post. Now I look like a moron :p

As k1114 says, VRAM is completely independant of system RAM, and so you can mix and match as you like. However, you should be looking at either GDDR5 or HBM cards nowadays. Anything still using DDR3 is completely obsolete.
