1-so it will run at 2133 without any proplem even if it 3000 ??
2-does using xmp makes my rams overheating ??
3-will i feel a speed in my computer between 2133 and 3000 ??

Think of it this way. You are driving through town, there is no traffic, and the traffic lights are all green for you. But the speed limit says 2133.... So you are doing 2133.

Then you leave the city, and there are no more speed limit signs. The last one you saw said 2133, but you decide to go faster, so you go 3000.

If the car going to overheat because you went 3000? Is the engine going to overheat?

And since you are out in the country on a straight road, you probably wont even feel like you are going 3000...

Now let me ask you some questions...

1) Do you think the best memory brands on the planet would sell memory that would actually overheat?
2) Do you know what happens with DDR3 when you go over 2133 speed?
3) Have you ever used XMP with DDR3 memory?

Answers:
1: No
2: The memory says its running faster, but nothing else runs faster.
3: Its the exact same thing with DDR4. XMP only sets the settings for the memory controller to know how to access the memory at those speeds.

1. probably
2. Ram should not overheat running at its designed speeds assuming you have a case with adequate airflow.
3. Depends on the program, so things benefit from faster ram some things don't. But if the ram is 3000 and the motherboard supports running at that speed why not run it at that speed.

3000 will be fine can set manually or (more easily) with XMP, there should be no overheating problems and yes you will see a performance increase from 2133 to 3000, even in gaming but moreso in things like multi tasking, video, imaging, VMs and the like . Also with apps using large data sets or are memory intensive

fwiw, I just RMA'd a set of Ripjaws V DDR4 3000 4x8GB sticks that I had put on a Z170-A with the i5-6600k because my system crashed every time I tried to run XMP, whether through BIOS or the on board switch and I did not want to mess with learning how to manually overclock them. I replaced them with a set of Mushkin blackline 2800 sticks and got the XMP to get the full speed out of those.

____________

Do you have the latest BIOS? Might be a 6600K with a slightly weak MC (memory controller), generally if a problem with high data rates a slight DRAM voltage increase or slight CPU OC will take care of it

shoot, sorry stray mouse click didn't mean to vote you down. admins please correct!

I do have latest BIOS and OC'd the i5 to 4.8 GHz and the Mushkin to 2800 no problem using ASUS 5-way after swapping out the Ripjaws V. You are probably right that I could have tweaked it but its already on the way back. Thanks.
