Can I delete everything in my HDD beside Windows 7?

Hello,

I will be building a new rig later this year, and I'm already getting an SSD, but I decided I didn't want my HDD to go to waste. I have a 1TB Seagate Barracuda from my previous rig from back in 2013. It currently has everything in it from my previous PC, including old folders and stuff. I am going to be formatting it, but one problem I have, though, is that I also have Windows 7 installed on there. I would like to get Windows 10 for free through Windows 7, and I don't wanna have to pay for the OS yet again, so can I just format the entire HDD but keep the OS? I know it may sound stupid, but I'm sorta still new to all this hardware and stuff, and I may ask dumb questions here and there, so please understand. Thank you.

Solution
Formatting will delete all data.

Since you want to keep the OS (Win 7), go to Control Panel ---> Programs & Feaiures, and uninstall all the ones that you do not need. Then run 'CCLEANER'.

Win 7 has to be on the boot drive and be the current OS for the Win 10 free offer to work. Microsoft won't see it sitting on a storage drive. Nor would it see it even if you moved it to the boot drive. If you want to take advantage of the free upgrade offer, you better build your new rig before next July 29 and have Win 7 installed on it.
