I built my first PC 3 months ago. Everything was going well until my computer randomly started shutting down with the message "Power Surge was detected during last startup". I read around and read somewhere that you could turn the anti-surge off so I did for a day or two but every once in a while the screen would go black and the sound would repeat super fast and I would have to reset my computer to make it go back and then it was fine. I was just curious if this is a common problem and what the recommended solution was. I am currently running a Cougar A500 500 W power supply which is more than enough to currently power my components. My computer is also on a surge protector and I know its not my building because I have had this computer in three different places.
