When I start playing PS2, 5-10 minutes after my PC suddenly shuts off.

Here are my rig specs:

Operating System: Windows 10
CPU : Core i7-2600 4-Core 3.40GHz (Turbo Speed ~3.70GHz -- never tried to OC it since is a non "K")
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (two lines method on thermal paste)
GPU : GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte WindForce 3X OC 4GB Edition (no custom OC)
RAM : 12 GB DDR3 1333MHz
Monitor : HP 2311x 23Inch plus a Gateway LCD TFT FPD1976W-MX
OS Hard Drive : Western Digital WD20EADS 2TB
2nd Drive : ST500DM002-1BD142 500GB
Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-H67MA-USB3-B3 (With the latest bios F8)
Case : Aerocool Dead Silence Black Edition (Installed all the fans possible on it)
PSU : Cooler Master G750M (8 months old)

I can't say it's a hardware issue (but reading around this fourms it might be 90% that case). My rig got everything to run Witcher 3 almost all set at ultra in 60 fps using 90% of my 8 (virtual) cores (for a briefly moment) in Novigard. In fact, I can stay playing Witcher 3 pushing my GTX 970 card to 95% of power consumption for hours and hours and my rig works perfectly. But when I get into PS2, then suddenly POOF! PC restarts (the i7 cores do not even reach 50% of their capacity).

It's not overheating issue, the Coolermaster EVO 212 keeps my processor at an average of 60-67 degrees with no fan-effort running at 1600 RPM (my Aerocool DS cube hepls with air flow) when runing Witcher 3, the same goes for PS2 (but PC shuts down with this last game).

You know, it is really driving me crazy. I can play every other game in my library but PS2! It started just today. To days ago all was dream and fun playing PS2 for long periods in massive battles pushing down my gtx to 30 fps with all maxed eventually.

Already ran a Dxdiag and everything is cool in my rig (I can paste that thing here if needed since the data is huge)

I've read around the internet posts where people got same problem around after some updates rolled in the game in 2013-2014 but no one got a solution nor an answer from PS2 developers.

However I’ll refer to this post: http://goo.gl/lNxR61 since there was a solution about lowering CPU voltage cause it was overheating. It’s my i7 2600 is a non “K” so, I don’t know if that is a near solution for my problem. --CPUID HWMonitor shows a max of 1.296V and 66°C when reachin 86% of CPU utilizations. Also the max CPU VCORE (in Motherboard thing) is 1.056V, I have no clue if that is safe or something—

I’m currently running a Prime95 torture tests (is taking forever...) as sugested in the post I quoted.

Thanks in advance.

I got two dimms of the same model DDR3 4GB installed: samsung; and just one A-DATA DDR3 of 4GB too. The three got the same voltage: 1.50V.

Also, after plenty hours of having Prime95 watching doing random iterations (It only reached a 1.43%) I realized There was actualy a "Torture Test" option in the "Option" menu and I started it. The lectures I got after 30 minutes of torture test are this (no shut downs):

I would still test with just the Samsung ram in.

If the cpu was overheating would a better cooler be a solution too.You could try to lower the Vcore, just stress test as you did now for stability issues.

Not tried the restore point? Maybe an update screws with things.

You could try to lower the Vcore

Lowered it from 1.050V to 1.010V and turned off the Turbo Boost to leave a stock 3.4GHz. Had a 3 hours session just now and no crashes. Would try tomorrow that voltage config with the Turbo Boost activated. I wonder if I'll see any performace difference with that feature on...

//Edit, so I can show the max lectures of that session:

Just wanted to point out that hwmonitor is displaying completely incorrect voltages from your motherboard, your pc wouldnt be able to turn on with your 12v only giving out 4.56v. The 6v one is off as well

So I installed (rather run the portable version of) the HWInfo64 (I thought that'd be the best since my OS is x64) and these are the lectures I got:

In the other hand, I still haven't activated back the Turbo Boost. To be honest I'm a bit scared to break something since I lowered the VCore value (I'm pretty noob with this and never intended nor tried an overclock). I've been playing the game (Planetside 2) these days with no shut downs.

I still have no Idea what happened, I mean why my PC started to shut down just when playing PS2 and no other games that apparently are more demanding. I never messed with the voltage numbers in the Bios since I first got this mobo (which had some time of usage before I bought it--couldn't say how long really) 3+ months ago.

Well, hwinfo doesn't display all the voltages, but the +12V seems to be fine. You really need to go into the bios to look for the most accurate readings in this case.

You could enable turbo without problems,i mean without breaking anything,if it can it will use turbo,if not it won't.If you get instability issues you will know, but again, that will ot break anything, maybe it will bsod, but at next boot could you disable it again or up the Vcore a litlle again.Worst case you have to do a clear cmos.Run some stability tests to be sure if you want.

Turned on the Turbo Boost back and tried the game. I couldn't play for a long period since my internet connection decied to mess with me today however I didn't received any shut downs in like 15 mins of playing. My initial problem was a shut down between 1-5 mins of playing with no bsod, so we could say the Vcore tweak is almost a succes.

I cannot try the game for long periods until sunday so I'll give an update on my PC status when that happens.

Well, I gave a try few session the last weekend playing around 2 hours in a row and I didn't receive any shut downs in pretty crowed places. I'm just getting a little issue that I'm yet not sure how to describe it, but it's so little and tiny that is bearable, rare, imperceptible. It's not a thig that GPU would cause like tearing, shuttering and that sort of things. It's like a repeaditly superimposition of sound and image that happens in less than a fraction of a second. I still can't get a way to describe it so I'm working my way on it.

However, lowering the voltage was a solution for me. It aslo was actually a value called Vtt Voltage --from 1.050v to 1.020v-- (which I don't know what that means but solved my shutdowns) not the Vcore value since it is in auto. Here are some pic I took with my smartphone just for you to enjoy their poor quality:

Well, my bad. It started again today.

PC Shutting down in Planetside when in no really crowed places. I returned to my previous set up turning off the Turbo bost, I even lowered again the Vtt to 1.000v and no success.

I'm starting to think that after all whether it might be my PSU or my Voltage regulator (no UPS here). I got a period of lighting strikes a month ago (a huawei modem blew out when connected to a surge protector). Also, it's to note that the shutting down started after that period. Maybe in a energy cut one of those got damaged.
