So I have had my laptop for about two years now. It came with a 1TB HDD. I just recently purchased a 500TB SSD drive to upgrade it. My laptop has space for two drives inside it. I, like many others, want to run my OS (windows 8.1) on my SSD and use my HDD as storage. So far I have heard that I can install windows on a flash drive, then boot from that and install windows on my SSD. I am just unsure of the step by step process and programs on how to do it. Any help or guides someone can point me to? Thanks a bunch!

Hey there, Gigabowser51!

Well, since you are doing a fresh install of Windows onto your new SSD (which is the recommended way to go when installing new hardware), you'd need to refer to MS about how perform clean install. If your OS was pre-installed, it should automatically activate when you go online from your new primary drive. Here's a link to MS about how to do a Clean Install: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/clean-install
Once you have the bootable flash drive, you should unplug your HDD from the SATA port and have only the SSD connected to the motherboard (otherwise you'd encounter an OS confusion).
