I have HP laptop and when i go to computer properties it say that i have intel hd graphics 5500 and when i go to my system info i see NVIDIA geforce gt820m 2gb and intel hd graphics 5500 so my question is do i have 2 graphics cards and does that improve performance in gaming?

Solution
Yes you do have 2 gpu's but their purpose is different. The intel hd is used for normal things like surfing the web. The dgpu is used while gaming but will require more power. You will have an advantage of laptops that don't have a dgpu but the dgpu is an entry level so the difference will vary depending on the game.
Your sort of have 2 but they do not combine to improve gaming performance. The HD 5500 is part of your cpu and is very energy efficient, when gpu load is low your laptop will use this gpu but when gpu load rises the laptop will seamlessly switch over to the more powerful 820m. The 820m consumes more power though. Your laptop does this to improve battery life

Currently, no, having an integrated Intel and dedicated NVidia GPU will not combine their resources to improve graphics performance. However, I have heard rumors that DirectX 12 will allow both to work together. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
