DVI D Single link to DVI D Dual Link

Both my monitor and gpu (graphic's card) have a Dual Link DVI -D Port , but i have a DVI D Single Link cable , will it work ?

if running a resolution below 1920x1200, You can use the single-link DVI cable, as they are both the same connection type. If the resolution is exceeding that (up to 2560x1600), you need a dual-link DVI cable. If above that, you need to go displayport.
