so i'm not going to pretend that i know everything that i'm talking about, but aside from the ghetto rigging of my radiator and fans due to size requirements i think that i did a pretty decent job on setting up my pc. now all of that aside i know that overclocking is dangerous, and i hear that most good overclocks are done through flashing the bios, which is also the most obvious way to get caught if you mess up. so can anyone recommend some overclocking tips/ setups for me to try? i am currently running an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard cooled by a corsair H110igtx extreme with an AMD Radeon HD 7700 gpu, 24gb of ram and all put into a Thermaltake chaser MK1 (obviously with top stock fan removed for h110i). my airflow should be good as it is the stock configuration with better exhaust at the top (from the corsair) so then i should be able to handle a pretty hefty cpu overclock right? i know my gpu is pretty limited but that is also on my mind. thank you very much in advance

Your motherboard should have a built in overclocking utility you can access through your bios, I'd say it's the fastest and safest way to get good overclocks from your pc without damaging it. if you wanna get better clock speeds than what the utility gives you then i'd suggest looking into some overclocking guides since overclocking manually is not really something you just do and hope it works.

i've looked into catalyst's overclocking but ive heard alot of horror stories about it. i dont want to fry my chip, and im definitely not looking for "hope it works" solutions, just looking for some experienced overclocking veterans

and what made you think i was talking that i was talking about the catalyst oc feature? do you know what the difference between your bios and os? since if you don't i really can't recommend trying to overclock your cpu... i was talking about the asus auto tuner (or what ever it's called) that's built into the bios. and you wanna try to burn your cpu yourself heres a guide to get you started http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/272214-29-wolfram-beginner-guide-overclocking

thats my bad i didnt see that you put bios, i have been suggested catalyst before and when i looked into the os way of going about it i didnt like what i read. As for the bios that is what i am trying to achieve, not opening my case and physically upping anything.
