I have an Asus H97M-Plus motherboard with 2X4 Gskill Ares RAM DDR3 1600 240 pin. I wanted to add the exact same spec 2X4 Gskill RAM.

All runs well as is but I run many open processes along with many live market quotes with tick data. My task manager shows a constant use of around 3.45 GB at any given time. CPU use seems to be nominal.

Questions:

1. Will the upgrade work on this motherboard
2. Will it conflict with existing RAM or work together for full 16 GB
3. Will it help with performance in any way at all
4. Is it a waste of time and money

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Solution
Would prob run a few dollars more (3-5) but might look at Ripjaws X in 1600/9 vs the 1600/10 of the Ares, it's not a big gain, but it will be a bit ;)

Would it help yes, but best to get 2x8GB, no guarantees that adding another 2x4GB will play with the old, even if it's the same exact model, DRAM that goes in a package is all tested to ensure they play nice. You can pull sticks off the assembly line and they may play, they might not. That's why they test

So would this be a better choice for my application:

G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C10D-16GAO

Or would you have a better recommendation (brand, amount, etc.) as long as I'm starting over with all new RAM. Thank you.

Btw, I will be upgrading OS soon so I don't think 16GB limits will apply any longer once I upgrade.
