Can I Hybrid Crossfire an AMD A8-5600k APU with a R9 280x card? I apologise if this isn't a very good question. I have no idea what this entails and the amount of difference it would make

Solution
No it's not compatible. I believe the A8 is restricted to the R5 cards. Running a 280x by itself would outperform any hybrid crossfire setup though.

So the 280x would work by itself, but not in hybrid crossfire.

NO. And its not worth the problem to CF the internal gpu in A8. 280x is a good card on its own and price is friendly. My 1,5 year old 7950 is doing fine until 3 months ago i bought a 280 to be paired with and the result is not bad.
