I just upgraded to ddr4, and the new z170 mobo, along with an i5 6600k.

My problem is, is when I put the sticks in dual channel, the pc won't even post or turn on the monitor at all, The DRAM LED is on. So, I put them into separate channels and it boots. Is there a reason for this? I would like to have dual channel

Also the RAM is 3000, but when the pc boots and I go into the bios the ram is default at 2133, and when I put it to 3000 then it won't boot like if i were to put it into dual channel..

Any help with this matter would be great!

Solution
Next thing would be pulling the CPU and checking for bent pins, if not that, then a bad channel problem in the mobo or the MC (memory controller) itself

Code:
Okay got the ram speed figured out, but what about the dual channel problem? Just did those changes, tried moving one stick back over so there would be dual channels... and it won't boot. Dram stays on.

But if I move the stick back over, so it's a single channel, it boots.

Okay, Just did so. Same result, I even moved the RAM all over, different combinations... It will work only in the farthest 2 slots away from the cpu.

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the same exact issue with an ASUS Z170-a and Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000. I have done all the same things as you except I also had some G.Skill DDR4-3200 that I tried with the same problems. Wondering if anything else ended up working before I send the mobo for RMA. Downtime FTL :(

I forgot to mention I have also overclocked my CPU.
