Is this a good build? I am planning on using this as my first build.

I recommend getting an i5-4460. It's cheaper and offers similar performance, it's the best non-overclocker i5. Also, don't get the CX600. It's cheap and will tend to fail within 2~3 years. If you buy it, prepare to switch it out within 18 months. I recommend getting this: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100w10500kr
You'll be able to max out those games you listed with a stable 60+ fps in 1080p. And disregard the BIOS update, as long as the motherboard is new and comes from a good source (amazon, newegg, microcenter, tiger direct, etc...), it will come with the latest BIOS installed.

Switched out a few things to improve the build and drop the price a bit.

your build looks super sweet!!!! (nice price drop too, I needed that) So this build will run most games ultra 60 fps? Also will the EVGA GTX 970 be loud, I hear that it is.......................... http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/d988gs

It's not loud at all. My brother is running one and you can barely hear it.
