Okay so I this motherboard says it supports DDR4 ECC RAM and I am wondering if I have to use regular DDR4 ram for this motherboard that is not ECC. I don't want to pay the huge expense of DDR4 ECC. Hope i can get some answers.
if your buying ecc ram i would not get ddr4 ram. in virtualization it is more about quantity over quality my vm server runs 64 gb of ddr2 ecc ram at 533 mhz and i couldn't be happier withe the performance.

Well i wanted to get regular DDR4 memory so I don't have to pay for the cost of DDR4 ECC

you wont be able to get a dual socket mobo then. and 2 cpus is very helpful in virtualization. what about something like a z800 mobo 2x x5680, x5690, or x5677's. 12 8 gig or 12 4 gig ddr3 ecc ram. this would give you between 16 and 24 vcpu's, and between 48 and 96 gigs ram. this will be MUCH cheaper and depending on your budget could outperform your other build.
