AMD does not compete these days. An i5 is better than anything AMD has to offer.

That is a terrible psu to use in a $1300 build. That motherboard is not bad, but there are much better options in the same price range or a little more.

Solution
Stay with Intel and your choice of Intel CPU.

4 Intel cores are better than 8 AMD cores in gaming.

Of course everything will run. Does not matter if it is Intel CPU or AMD CPU, it will run. Its just that most things run much better on Intel CPU's.

Get yourself a decent video card as well.

I agree, the r9 390 is better. It has 4.5gbs more vram and has equal performance of the 970. Its a much better card to crossfire aka nvdias sli with. Only downside is increased power usage. You get this for the same price as a 970.

you have a good psu so power isn't your concern.
the 390 is either equal or slightly better at 1080p and much better at 1440p.
Also the 1st Dx12 bench seems to be giving a good boost to GCN cards.
and it has a lot more vram buffer as well.

more pros than cons so my vote goes to 390.
