So my laptop motherboard, which has a gtx 770m gpu (removeable), crapped out on me. My desktop has a gtx560 so I was thinking what if I just adapted it? Is this possible?

Here's my current system

Are there enclosures specifically designed for this, or would I attach it right inside my case? What about cooling? Would I adapt the copper heatsinks that are inside the laptop currently?

Or would it underperform my current gpu anyway? If that's the case could it add a little performance, atleast for background operations?

Solution
This can actually be doable if you find an adapter and your desktop motherboard "likes" the gpu. Performance wise i don't think you'll be gaining much but that depends on the game.

How about a better option if you like tinkering with things: Find a replacement for the laptop motherboard ( you should find cheap ones used) and change the mobo yourself. Using online guide and taking a few pictures for reference is easy enough most of us can do it.
