Good Gaming Build for Son's birthday?

What is a good gaming build for a budget of $7,500 - $10,000? At the moment he has a lower end gaming PC ($2,000), except I have decided to give that to my 7 year old nephew. My son would like an upgrade because on his current PC, he can not run games at high speeds. The requirements he has given me include: SLI GTX Titans, Intel Core i7-5960X, any 1TB SSD, 5TB HDD, a CPU liquid cooler, any motherboard above $400, 1,000W, 128GB of RAM. He would also like a mid tower case that can change settings such as fan speeds and temperatures.

Can you give us his current spec and what resolution he will be gaming at. I could not recommend TitanX's or a 5960x as they are completely pointless for a gaming build. Sounds like he has given you a list of the most expensive parts without understanding what's best for a gaming build.

I'm sorry, but at the moment, my son has a $2,000 computer. The last thing he would want to do is downgrade to an even lower end gaming PC.

He has not completed a parts list yet. What would be the best build for gaming at a budget of $10,000?

a 2000 $ gaming rig is not low end, A 500$ rig is low end. A 2000$ gaming rig is considered high-end. What are the current specs of his computer?

I do not know the parts of his current computer as we built it about a year ago. However, he would like a computer that would last a very long time and would perform well throughout the time he has it. I think $10,000 is a reasonable price. What do you think would be the best gaming build for $10,000?

I know this, however, spending more will provide a computer that will last much longer...

$10k budget for a gaming build shows a complete misunderstanding of a gaming PC's hardware. Even if you managed to spend it, it wouldn't perform any better than a PC costing less than 1/2 that. Gaming PC's are just not that expensive.

If budget is effectively unlimited you need to tell us things like what resolution monitor he will use and what hz/fps it should be. Then we can tell you 1) if its even possible as some things are still not possible with todays hardware 2) The best hardware to achieve these objectives

He would like a 4K monitor and a PC that allows him to game on 4K.

You can spend $10k today and waste over 1/2 your budget on things that wont help gaming performance at all. However in a few years time it will still be older generation technology outperformed by cheaper current parts available at that time. You can get the same gaming performance today with enough left over to buy another top end gaming pc in 3-4 years time which will significantly out perform anything of today.

LOL! Can you tell the future or something? I seriously doubt any of the things you just said.

This build should last him quite a while. This is what I would call an enthusiast build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rNYfzy

We have warned you now though. Spending this much on a PC meant for gaming is completely unnecessary, but it is want you wanted. It is not pre-built, and you will have to assemble it by yourself.

well, I see 2 options here:

1- the OP is a troll.
2- the OP is simply someone with too much money, and not enough brains.

I say this because someone with that kind of money wouldn't come to a forum waste time asking for a build. He would simply go to a store and buy the best PC available. And even getting the best PC available in a computer store, I do not know of any premade build that costs more than 5000$....

Also: "lower end PC (2000$)". lol, someone close this thread please...

Well, everything he said is true. This is how it is in the world of technology, everything gets dated really fast. And I do not appreciate you being rude, we are just trying to help you...

I am not a troll... I do not have too much money. There is no way you can have too much money if you earn all of it fair and square. I do have brains, we would like to get a decent computer. We are just not getting a prebuilt because I would like to spend time with my son and build a computer. It just feels much more personal that way, and gives you a sense of accomplishment.

Well, with that answer, I do apologize for my previous posts.

Problem is, you have no knowledge on the task at hand, and you gotta spend some time doing some research on how to build a PC (which is fairly easy, do not worry on that).

With that out of the way, can you tell us the current system your son has? what are the specifications of the current PC?

I will just make a perfect good build, 2 secs.

This build should handle playing at 4k without any issues. Spending any more than this will not yield any gains performance wise for gaming.

This is the best gaming PC someone can get today. it does not reach 5000$ as you can see. You also got there 2 monitors, one is 4K and 28'', more movie oriented. The other is 27'' 2K, but is gaming oriented because of its fast time response and refresh rate.

I did not put a case in there, as that will be yours to choose (case is most personal preference, so I will leave that to you).

Good luck, and happy birthday to your son. Don't regret later on spoiling him.... (What age is he btw?)
