Hey guys! I know a lot of computer staff but there is something that bothers me a lot.
I am a student at a university and I stay close. My university provides WiFi but I am just out of range. So i bought an outdoor WiFi antenna TL-WA5210G and placed it to my building's roof. And through a cat5e cable I am trying to connect it to a home router.
What I mean is to connect the cat5e cable from my antenna to the LAN port of my router and I get WiFi signal in my home. I tried so hard but I do not seem to get it right. I am using a TL-WR740N router. should I use a repeater instead or are there any settings that I miss on any device?

Solution
If you can't access the GUI on the TL-WA5210G, I would highly recommend bringing it down from the roof and configure everything with it connected close by.

How long is the cat5 cable going to the roof? Are you sure it is not over the max length (usually 100 meters for both Ethernet and power, but check the owner's manual)?

Did you configure your outdoor antenna before connecting it directly with your router ?
Try connecting to the antenna and setting it up with your University WiFi. Try to see if you get a connection that way, if you do try connecting the outdoor antenna to your routers WLAN port (the one of different color, in that router I think it is Blue) and see if the router get a connection.

Let me know if that fixes your problem.

[strike]The antenna requires power from a POE (Power Over Ethernet) capable router. The TL-WR740N is not POE capable, so your antenna is essentially unplugged.[/strike]

Edit: It appears this antenna comes with a power supply. Does it appear to be operating properly?
