I have two dell notebooks that have regular hard drives in them.
An Inspiron 13-7352 with a Toshiba MQ01ABF050 500G hard drive, and an Inspiron 11-3147 with a Seagate ST500LT012-1DG142 500G hard drive.
I'd like to replace the hard drives with SSDs.
What specifically do I need to look for in the SSD so I can easily clone the hard drive?
I don't want to run into problems with sector sizes etc..
My friend recently replaced a netbook hard drive with an SSD, but all the programs he used to clone the hard drive did not work. He ended up taking it to a local shop and they also couldn't do it, they just formatted the new SSD in the netbook and installed the OS. None of his programs or email/contacts transferred over.
I would like to avoid that and do it at home.
