Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 OC problems.

Well guys, here is the problem. So i got a Q6600, and it doesnt OC past 3005MHz.
I am running it at Auto Voltage, which runs it at 1.256v when 100% load, under Prime95. It passes the tests when running at 1.256v and 3005 mhz, but i cant push it any farther. I got a 333mhz Bus Speed and multiplier x9. I am using 4 gigs of PGi DDR2-800U ram. The GPU i have is a GT 8800. And the temps are really low!! 52 max for cores #0 and #1, #2 and #3 run at 48c when under load in Prime95. So what's wrong? I have tried other core voltages, just cant make it work at 3.2 ghz. And yes, it is a G0 version. I guess its just too old.. The MOBO i am using is a ASUS P5K. And i am using a X Type 600w psu, LC-Power. So the wattages are far away from max with that GT 8800. I cant imagine other else than its the age of the CPU or then i didnt win in the Silicon Lottery. :/

You may just have a less than ideal overclocker on your hands.

When you are changing the FSB did you keep an eye on your memory? It is linked and may get pushed too hard.

A memory multiplier will allow you to bring the memory speed down when testing higher FSB settings on the cpu.

I tend to stick w/ a static voltage your comfortable with. Auto tends to be higher than required when overclocking. If 1.275 is your max(just for example), I'd set set that manually and OC until unstable going any higher rather than let motherboard add more volts.What speed is your RAM at at 3000ghz cpu speed? You can check with CPU-Z.

Yup, i set the RAM at a lower volt, it runs at 727 mhz atm , and at 1.8v ram, and i am going to try the Pencil Trick now, cuz its not working really well.. The vDrop is way too much.

It is luck of the draw.

It is a shame more boards do not have offset voltage. This allows extra voltage without loosing as much on the power savings.

My Q6600 just made 3.0 on stock voltage(I forget the VID of that chip. I kept default voltage so all the power saving settings could be left on). Vdroop was a bit too much so a quick mod(bypass one resistor) fixed it right up.
