Hi, i recently build a Skylake rig.

CPU: 6700k
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170M D3H

CPU-Z is showing voltage of up to 1.62 for a brief second sometimes. Is that dangerous for the CPU? Should i manauli set to 1.2v?

Also, i have Ripjaw 2x8 gb 3000MHZ CL 15, running it at stock still, is it safe to put it on XMP profile, i heard some people having problems, should i wait for a bios update first?

Solution
This is latest hardware, i would read the voltages in Bios and in Gigabytes motherboard tool. I think that @ 1,62 the CPU would be fried along time ago, i guess CPU-Z is wrong.

You are probably right, HW monitor shows 1.288 as max core voltage.

I'm having this sort of problem aswell, tho i don't like installing asus suite (Asus Z170M- plus here) because it doesn't agree with the drivers on my mouse.. for some odd reason

I have a similar problem. My voltages of i5 6600k get up to 1.536 in cpu-z and up to 1.568 in HWmonitor. HWmonitor has all the voltages wrong anyway on my setup. Is this something to be concerned about? This is with everything set to auto.

CPU-Z get the voltage wrong because the VRM memory controller isn't on CPU anymore, now it is on motherboard but the readings seem to be combined for CPU and motherboard part of VRM controller, HW monitor VID should show you the correct values.

I seen some people having problem with Asus motherboards thou, i have Gigabite Z170M D3H and everythink works perferct for now, had the 6700k rig for over a week now.

Thank you for the quick reply. The voltage on the VID gets up to 1.195 so that should be OK. I have a ga-z170-xp-sli. So I guess that value is correct but all the other voltages in HWmonitor are still wrong. I have a value of 2.6 on the 3.3v rail, 4.5v on the 5 v and - 6v on the -12v rail. I do not have any stability issues otherwise.
