So Bout a while ago..I upgraded my PSU to an antec vp-450w and Put in a GPU. And I was wondering since its a dell would I be able to upgrade to the i7-4790 (Non K) i do have the same LGA 1150 socket. and my CPU at the moment is an i3-4150.
The motherboard should support it, but it in no way is capable of doing a stable overclock.
I would either get the non K version of an i7 or since you cant overclock I would just save some $$ and get a Xeon E3 1231. That will save you almost $100 with only slightly lower clock speed. Only other main difference between the Xeon and the i7 is that the Xeon does not have an integrated gpu in it but since you have your own dedicated gpu that is not really an issue.
