z170 compatible with "older" DDR4 memory?

I'm trying to build a system with an Asus z170-k MB and an intel i5-6600K CPU. Since I'm having difficulty getting modules from the newer G.Skill Ripjaws V series where I live (lots of out of stock products on stores), I thought I'd buy modules from the Ripjaws 4 series. I'm worried however, if the z170 is compatible with the "older" Ripjaws series.

I would suppose it is, but on Asus' own QVL on the product I get confused. Specifically, I'm thinking about getting G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 8GB (2X4) DDR4 3000MHz CL15 , but I only see G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 16GB 4X4GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 on the list.

Is it fine to get the 2x4GB kit? Do they only present the larger memories sizes to indicate that if it's compatible with more units of the same module, it's also compatible with less units of that module?

Sorry if I'm buying paranoid, I just don't want to mess it up. And thanks in advance for reading and answering. Regards.
