hello toms hardware! just have a quick question about running two monitors. i have two monitors set up, one is my main one and the other i use to watch streams or netflix while playing games. however when im watching a stream or netflix and playing a game, such as league of legends, diablo 3 or csgo, the game will get lower frames. my question is, is the loss in frame rate because of the processor or the video card? right now i have an i5-2500k cpu and a gtx 760 video card. i also have 8 gigs of ram. would adding another video card and doing SLI help? or is it just the cpu? thanks, this forms are always the best. dunno if this is in the right subforum.

All those games are very CPU intense (except csgo), and I'll tell you right now that adding a second monitor will affect GPU performance practically not at all. Watching Netflix and watching streams all stress the CPU, it is very easy for a modern GPU to display 2D graphics. The processor decodes compressed video data from Netflix and videos, so along with processing your video game, could be stressed.

The easiest solution is to open task manager and monitor the CPU usage of each core. And monitor GPU usage. I know from my personal experience that when I added a second monitor, I got the same FPS.

Can confirm 2nd monitor changed nothing in my gaming performance. Sounds like a CPU bottleneck. I'm guessing one or more of your cores is topping off when you watch streams while playing a game. Overclocking your CPU can sometimes help with this.
