I purchased a TP-Link Archer C7 AC 1750 router and cannot get my Netgear WNCE4004 wireless HD video and gaming adapter to connect to the router. I tried using the Netgear Genie set up wizard and also WPS and when I use the wiziard I get the following message: "Please move device closer to your existing router or gateway. The selected network is no long available. Please make sure the existing network equipment is within the proximity of the extender". I had the adapter about 3 ft away from the router and got this message. All my other wireless non-Netgear adapters and wireless bridges, PC, printer, and laptops connected to the router with no problem. I have tried to set up the Netgear adapter using 2 different computers and also tied to reset the Netgear adapter. Nothing has worked. I am using WPA/WPA2 AES security. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Update: I did some more trouble shooting and have found the following: I attempted to connect the WNE4004 to my old dual band router using the WPA AES security and was able to connect at both bands. Looks like the issue that I am having is not with the 4004 hardware but with the 4004 trying to connect with the new C7 router and that something is prohibiting the 4004 to make this connection. Documentation for the Netgear WNCE4004 is poor on their website. I am not that wireless network savy so can anyone point me in the direction where I can look at the settings on my C7 router to make sure that they are compatible with the WNCE4004?

Set the security on your new router to WPA2-AES only, and turn off 'mixed mode' networking if it is turned on (only used if you have old wireless b/g devices). See what happens then.

WPA security is very low, as it is an old standard, and easily hacked.

Thanks. On my Archer C7 router my security was set as WPA/WPA2 (automatic) with AES encryption for both bands. I changed the security to WPA2-PSK with AES encryption for both bands. The mode for the 2.4 band only has 11bg mixed or 11 bgn mixed (set here) as choices and the 5 band has 11 a/n/ac mixed (set here) or 11 a/n mixed. l rebooted the router then tried to connect via WPS - got the same message and no connection. Then I tried connecting by the Netgear genie with the bridge connected to a laptop via ethernet cable - got the same messsage and no connection.

According to the manual, you should be able to set both bands to 11n ONLY mode. Using mixed mode often causes issues, and should only be used if you have older equipment that cannot use wireless N.

PS have you updated to the latest firmware? This could be the cause of some issues.

Thank you for your message. I looked at the manual for the router: TP-Link AC1750, Archer C7 and could not find reference to using the N mode only under the wireless security section. The manual also states the options as either 11bg mixed or 11bgn mixed for the 2.4 band and for the 5 band 11an mixed or 11 a/n/ac mixed under the wireless security. Am I looking at the correct fields to change?

Did you get an answer to this? I face the same issue. I'm trying to connect to Archer C50 though.
