I've been having these random crashes for around a year now. What happens is that the screen would start flickering with what I would guess to be a result of graphics card failure, and then eventually completely freeze with a weird graphical glitch. I've already tried dusting out the computer, and I've already tried taking out and putting back the processor, graphics card, and RAM. My drivers are updated and I'm still having this problem.

Here is an example of the screen that appears when I crash: http://i.imgur.com/fyDewZj

Processor: i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20 GHz, 3.60 GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 8.00 GB
System: 64-bit Operating System, Windows
Display Adapter: AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series

I'd say it's an okay temperature. It probably isn't overheating because the computer also crashes first thing in the morning when it's been off all night. The crashes happen randomly, be it right after startup, or a few hours after it's been up and running without a problem.

Yes, I would like some recommendations, but hopefully I'm looking for a solution that doesn't result in me having to buy a new graphics card, as they are pretty pricey. I also don't know for sure if it's the problem with the graphics card, or if it's the power supply, or maybe just the RAM?

RAM does not really effect power supplies, and it is rare for video memory to get screwy. if it did it with load I would suspect the power supply, but as it is random, there is not evidence of a weak power supply. therefor I suspect the card, or a loose or bad cable which is uncommon by today's standards.

Hi, thanks for the answer. I'm looking at possible graphics card replacements, and I'm currently interested in the GeForce GT 730 (http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Profile-Graphics-01G-P3-3731-KR/dp/B00L5GZOOK/?&tag=bom-tomshardware-20&ascsubtag=[site|thaus[cat|[art|[pid|B00L5GZOOK[tid|14410843048645995[bbc|LESPRIX) because of it's incredibly low price for a graphics card. Would this be a downgrade, or an upgrade from my current AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series graphics card?

meant to say RAM does not effect graphics cards, but eh both statements are true...
the 7870 is a great card, as is the 7850, so this would be a down grade, but somehow I wonder if you speak of some integrated HD graphics. is this a physical card? and if so, what is its exact series?

That is the card I have. I'm not sure if I should buy the same one (but used, so it's a lot cheaper), or buy a new gt 730, or maybe spend a little bit more on a better graphics card to what I currently have.
