One fan is not adjusting power properly.

On my current build I have a total of four case fans. They are all plugged into corresponding "fan" spots here and there on the MOBO. I have all the fans set to "silent" until the temperature rises and they need to work harder. So one of my fans does not have a long enough wire to reach it's designated spot- so I used a little extension cable I bought on eBay.

Well I noticed- the one fan I used an extension on, does not run in silent mode. It's running at it's normal un-adjusted power level.

When the temperature rises enough for the other fans to kick on- that fan also matches the level they're supposed to be at. They all work fine when it ramps up, but sitting idle the one fan will not go to silent mode.

They're all the same model fan bought from the same supplier.

Any idea why this one fan wouldn't be working? (Fan #1 on the mobo in case you're wondering.)

Hi, Can we get some details on the fan connectors in use(3-pin/4-pin)?

4-pin CHA_FAN1 and PWR_FAN1 does not seem to control speed for 3 pin fans.
