I have recently received my Lenovo Flex 2 laptop, it was working fine on windows 8.1, no problems at all, everyone was happy! THEN...
I decided to update the BIOS because I like to keep everything up to date, I had just updated to operating system to windows 10, from windows 8.1.
It was the first time I have ever flashed a BIOS so I read all the information provided and followed the steps that were given by Lenovo, which was the site I downloaded the BIOS update from.
A link to the Lenovo website with the specs: http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/lenovo/flex/flex-2-14/#tab-customize one (£399.99)
The BIOS I downloaded was: This one and then used it.
So I ran the setup to update the BIOS, it did it automatically, pretty much, I just had to double-click the program (so much for the steps).
I thought I had done it, then the computer restarted and I was stuck, I know I must have made a mistake somewhere, but I don't have an idea where.
Now, every time I start up the laptop it takes me to this:
Then the other part of the menu is:
If I try to boot one of the drives it seems to loop and go back to the menu (picture) above. I say loop because the screen goes black and I'm back where I was! This also happens when I try to exit it.
When using a Pen drive to run a diagnostics tool which they recommended, click here to see the tool. It told me secure boot was enabled, which became a big problem, this is what I the computer shown me when trying to boot the tool from the pen drive:
If I want to do anything I need to know the BIOS password, it seems:
Considering I have just flashed the BIOS I have no idea how a password was put on.
So far:
I have tried to boot from a pen drive - This didn't work
I have taken the BIOS battery out and drained the battery life and I unplugged the battery and A/C power connector - This didn't work
I have also tried certain backdoor passwords, like: PHOENIX, phoenix, 123456, 12345678 etc.
This is what I have read about:
I have read about using a simple debugging program that would invalidate the CMOS RAM but I don't know how to create or run the program with the computer being in it's current state.
Using the pin jumpers to reset the BIOS but I didn't see any pin jumpers (I'm not sure that they are called that but I'm tired so I can't remember fully) on the motherboard, also this would/should have the same affect as taking out the BIOS battery, which did nothing!
Apart from that I have no clue how to fix this problem, I feel like it's happened to a lot of people without a solution available.
Thank you for taking your time to read this and lets hope we find a solution, if there is one.
