At the moment my pc has had a bottle necking issue because this was my first pc build
Specs:
AMD Athlon x4 760k quad core
24 Gb ram
GeForce GTX 970 SSC
600 Watt power supply

I made a mistake of getting that gpu for the cpu making my pc bottleneck like crazy

Anyway I plan on getting this to upgrade my computer
z97 sabertooth
intel i7-4790k
corsair hydro h100i

I do plan on overclocking and sometime in the future getting another 970 to sli

Solution
The 4790k might be overkill. Personally I think the i5 4690k will support the 970 just fine but if you'd prefer a newer i5, go with the i5-6600k as suggested above (depends on if you want to wait, etc. Either will do)

24 gb of ram is way more than enough. You might want a slightly higher power supply for sli-ing two 970s but it probably won't be absolutely necessary.

What exactly is your question? upgrading your processor to that should fix the bottleneck and leave you with a super epic gaming rig ;)

The AMD Athlon 760k would be predicted to bottleneck. It is really just too anemic for today's games.

The 4790k is likely overkill, as HT does not help in games. I would go with an i5, and look towards the new i5-6600k once the price stabilizes which should be soon.

As stated above, I agree that 24 GB of RAM is overkill for gaming.

I was planning to upgrade the power supply and the reason that I have 24 gb of ram is because I got a 16 gb kit on sale and I had a 8 stick laying around so I just threw it in there.

Agreed on i5 6600k.
24GB... Well 8GB Memory is optimal now and probably for a few years. 2x4GB kit will be enough for any game and applications you'll be likely to use. The Skylake Architecture appears to be superior in every way ,with the added benefit of the FIVR moved off the CPU which is great for overclockers.
It is a bit less for a Haswell platform, and is going to perform about the same in game. The majority of benefits that Skykake possess are not likely to be seen in a game review/benchmark article but there is new features and i think you should have a look anyway.

As Vitrik stated, you won't really notice the difference between Skylake/Haswell in-game therefore it's up to you which one you end up going with. Any decent i5/i7 should be able to support that 970 without bottleneck (4690k, 6600k, etc).

The 6600 here is probably the better choice because it's same in price/maybe $10 more but an entire generation ahead (still little to no difference in-game however).

I will most likely go with the 6600. Thanks for the help ;)

After doing some more research a 6600k would not fit in the sabertooths cpu socket because the sabertooth has a LGA1150 and the 6600k is a LGA1151
and would need a skylake motherboard

Yeah, sorry thought we assumed that. What I would recommend is looking at the Skylake motherboards; if you see any features you really want then upgrade but if not honestly go with a LGA1150 CPU there are still great ones there that perform just as well as the 6600k especially with overclock. If this is for gaming then keep in mind the GPU is most important anyways, NOT cpu.
