I am looking at getting a new HDD because my current one is starting to get louder and louder, and more clanky.

Would the best way to do it be simply to select everything and drag it over or is there a better way to do it?

(I have 2 HDDs, one is my SSD with Windows on it. The other one is the one I am trying to transfer my data from)

Thank you

Hey there, David.

If you plan on moving data like: videos, photos, documents and other types of files, you could just copy - paste them (either the folders they are in or the files themselves) from one drive another. On the other hand, if you plan on moving installed programs and games, it's best that you reinstall them on your other drive. It's not recommended that you moved already installed software by copy-pasting it.
As for the HDD, I'd suggest that you download the manufacturer's diagnostics tool and test the drive with it after you've backed up your data, just to have an idea of what's going on with the HDD.

Hope that helps.

Hello, thank you for the reply, I ran a diagnostic test through Windows and it said it is fine, I'll look into the manufacturer's one as well though!

You are most welcome.
If it turns out that there are no errors even after the HDD diagnostic tool's tests, then this might be due to a faulty SATA cable or port, so you might want to try it with different ones. I'll wait for the test results, to see if further instructions are needed. In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions whatsoever.
