Is this one yours? From the review, this is a good unit. Top like the top class Super Flower makes, but its not cheap unit.

It is top tier in Tier List, "Cooler Master V series"

If you can hear the sound by holding your ear near to it, then I don't think this is something serious. Maybe everything is fine then and you don't need to do all the work again. But again, I can be mistaken.

In example, my video card does make a sound (coil whine) if I play games with high fps (over 150 fps). I can hear it through my pc case, if I lower the sound of the game. And I know this is...

I've tried 3 different cables, 2 different power sockets in my room, the sound is still there.. but i think when i was at my friend's house there was no sound at all, I'm not totally sure though

I know this phenomena from FM/UKW radio units. I don't know if this is related, but turning them off will still make that sound you described from your psu. I can hear it, if I hold my ear near to the radio. It disappears if I turn it on. To me, it seems something like coil whine, cheap build quality or so.

I've used this psu for around 9 months so far, and its still on warranty, I can only get it replaced if they think theres something wrong with it, seeing that it runs my pc without any problems im not sure if they would or not.. do you think I should be worried that it could get caught on fire or something? just making sure

Its hard to tell. I can't say whats the issue on your unit. It just remembered me my experience with the radio units from work. If it is what I thinkg, then this is absolutely no problem. If I am mistaken and your pc gets damaged or worse... then...
Is it loud? Do you get annoyed by the tone?

If you ask me what I would do, when I had that with my unit. I would definitely change the unit. If I can't do it with warranty, I would just buy another, better, one. Even if it would not explode or harm any component (don't know on your unit), I would be annoyed by the tone, because I am a little sensitive.

The tone can only be heard if you put your face near the PSU, which makes it hard to hear, specially when my Air conditioner is on aswell.. but i'm just worried my pc would get damaged, the thing is, i just upgraded my case and bought a new headset so I'm kinda low on budget to buy another PSU, just changed everything from old case to new one.. so its gonna be a pain in the ass to get a new psu (atleast for now).. I might take it to the shop and make them check it while its still on warranty

Edit: At least, go to the shop and ask them to test it. If they think its ok, then there shouldn't be any problem. And hopefully they are not noobs.^^

I hope they're not noobs too.. I'm gonna let them check it and hope so they know if anythings wrong. Thanks alot for your help though :)

Ok, sorry, the coil whine is only on graphics card (like mine too). English is not my native language.

But the weird sound you describe is exactly what I have on my radio at work. The radio makes that bzzzz sound only, if I plug the power adapter in and turn it off. Turned on, the strange sound goes away, even if volume of radio channel is at zero. I know, this is not a pc, but it is a psu inside that radio with the exact same description. I never had a problem with it and I doubt there is any.

I will thank you too and I am glad to hear that I am not the only person in the world experiencing this. If I tell my friends about that noise, they just make jokes about that, or I think I have some marvel powers with super sensitive ears or what? :D I think, you can just relax now. Have a nice day. :)

Yeah thats exactly what I mean. I was just scared cause some topics here say it might be pending failure for PSU or it might get burned and that would be unfortunate.

I unplugged the power adapter and slept for 4 hours, woke up and plugged it in, the sound is gone, just for now though, i'll check if the sound comes back later. and I shall take it to the shop.. Thats weird, but thanks a lot for your kind words and help :))

edit: I noticed the buzzing noise starts to come back when the pc has been on for a long time
