Hello,

My setup is Asus P5Q3 motherboard with 2 x 2 GB DDR3 ram.
I recently bought extra DDR3 memory 1 x 4 GB DDR3 ram (KVR16N11S8/4).

After I add that 3th ram my computer won't boot anymore.
- I've updated my bios
- I've tried resetting cmos when changing ram
- My computer still works with the old ram

I've also seen on this website (http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/Asus/Asus_P5Q3/278/Compatible_RAM) that the memory should be compatible.

Does anyone have an idea what's wrong or what I can try to fix this?

Thanks!

Edit: I went back to the store and explained the issue and got my money back. Thanks for the fast replies!

This KVR memory is not shown on lists of compatible memory at Kingston and at Asus, as suggested by popatim. This suggests this memory is incompatible. However, all memory combinations may not have been tested (yet), so this memory might be compatible with the motherboard, although it might be incompatible with the existing memory due to variations in memory characteristics.

Try these combinations to see if the system works OK -

put existing 2 GB memory in slots 1 and 2; put the new 4 GB memory in slot 3

If it doesn't work try the 4 GB memory in slot 4 instead.

If still not working, try -

4 GB memory in slot 1, and existing 2 GB memory in slots 3 and 4.

If it still doesn't work, try 4 GB memory in slot 2.

If there are problems still, then increase DRAM Voltage to 1.55 V in BIOS and try above combinations of memory again.
