The USB port for the WD Hard drive just broke and fell down inside the device and I cannot find a way to open it to get it out. So,is it possible to change the USB port of the hard disk?

Solution
You might be able to buy a new enclosure or drive dock to use. Many USB drives have just regular hard drives inside. They can be a pain to get open, but once you do, you can use the drive just like a standard internal hard drive.
Some, however have non-standard connectors. If you have one of those, there's not much you can do other than try to replace the enclosure with an identical one.

Solution
Hey there, Naveen CK.

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your drive. @Calculator is exactly right about everything mentioned. If this is a WD portable external drive and somewhat a newer model, chances are that it has a proprietary connector. Note that removing the enclosure is never recommended and this would also void the drive's warranty. Do you need any data recovered or just want the drive to work? If you don't need to recover data, I'd suggest that you check the drive's warranty here: Warranty & RMA Services and contact our customer support to see if you are eligible for RMA.

Hope that helps.
