Upgrading my core i3 to core i5

Hello everyone,

my laptop is HP G72-a26SO which has
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 350 @ 2.27GHz

But recently i got myself an
Intel® Core™ i5-460M Processor (3M Cache, 2.53 GHz)

My question is, would this new cpu work fine in my laptop ? or no ?

I would really appriciate an answer for my question :)

The CPU you have obtained will certainly 'run' with that computer. Even though it is called an i5, it still has only two cores IIRC.

If the CPU on your laptop is socketed and the new one is also socketed, you may be able to upgrade. However, some version of the G72 have the CPU soldered to the board. In that case, no dice.
