Why is this system so (comparatively) cheap?

Hey guys,

I was just checking out new PCs and came across this build via TigerDirect.ca

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9796143&CatId=114

The specs look really good and it's "only" $3,376 (CDN):

  • Intel i7-6700K 4.0GHz CPU
    32GB DDR4
    NVIDIA Titan X 12GB
    2TB HDD
    256GB SSD
    Liquid Cool
    Win 10 Home 64-Bit

I was speccing out a home build via NewEgg, NCIX and Tiger Direct and was hitting around $4,500 for a similar build. I can't figure out why this is so much cheaper, so I suspect I'm missing something really obvious. (NOTE: I'm also comparatively new to all of this, so please be gentle), :)

Any thoughts?

Actually, that's still probably overpriced.

However, I'd note that I doubt they used a EVGA G2 PSU, or a Asus Maximus VIII Hero, or the case I selected. More than likely they used cheaper parts for that, so you'd still be paying a couple hundred dollars more than if you made it yourself.

If the PC is for gaming it is bad value for money anyway, you could build something for like $1800-2000 that would have around 5% less gaming performance.

Assuming the PC is for gaming, the performance differences between those and this would barely be noticeable.

Agreed. This is more realistic. Also, I think I even found the correct case.
