the issue i have seen floating around is that some motherboards while they support the processor they only support it via a bios update and the processor couldn't be used out of the box. i was wondering if out of the box they supported the processor rather then having to spend tons more money getting 2 processors one which would only be used to update the bios and then the second processor or main processor being the 860k. when did the 2 listed boards get released before or after the 860k

This motherboard has listed in the cpu compatibility the 860K with the original BIOS version for that board.

If you want to know about a specific manufacturer or motherboard, check the compatibility list of that board. If it says the 860K is compatible it will show which BIOS revision is needed, and if it is the first version then you know that no matter which version you get it will work out of the box.
