Hi,
I plan to reformat my HD and re-install both XP and W7. My query is: can I put XP (32 bit) and W7 (64 bit) on different partitions on the same PC?
Any suggestions as to how I select which OS to boot from if this is possible?
Thanks in advance.

Solution
Yes you can absolutely install both operating systems to different partitions of the same HDD or SSD. When you have them both installed, when you power on the computer an option will present itself before the typical windows load screen. From there you will be able to select whether you want to boot to XP or 7. It doesn't matter if one is 32-bit and the other 64-bit.

You can also see more boot options from within Windows via msconfig.exe
