I have a PackardBell easynote LJ65 Intel core 2 duo T6500. The motherboard is a HannStar J MV-4 94 V-O 0923. It's five years old and kept in perfect condition.

Last month its graphic card (a geforce gt 130m) stopped working after thousands of hours of gaming. I would have expected it to happen a couple of years ago and then I'm quite amazed that it lasted more than five years.

Since I love my 17" screen laptop and also because I have no economic means to find a worthy replacement, I was trying to buy a new card on ebay.

And here the problem arises because the chipset of my graphic card is VG.10P0Y.002 and on the Web I can find only GeForce GT 130m with a VG.10P06.002 as chipset at an affordable price. The difference is almost imperceptible visually.

What do you think? Will it work the same? Should I ask the question to the manufacturer? can I upgrade it with some other model such as a 240m or a 330m since they have the same slot and watts?

Thanks in advance for your answers

I would suggest checking with manufacturer. It wont cost you a dime, versus time and money wasted on piece of hardware that may not be fully compatible.

On the other hand if you install that model of the card, all it may need a proper chipset driver for it to function correctly. But still check with manufacturer first.

You can't upgrade your gpu on your latpop. It's not possible for a large number of reasons. These include being unable to provide enough power for the GPU, being unable to remove the additional heat it generates, and the virtual impossibility of working on these kinds of components without specialized tools and expertise. Also it will most likely be soldered to your motherboard. If you wanna keep playing games i would suggest you to save some money and build a cheap desktop with an amd APU or get a better laptop.
