My gpu has hdmi and dvi slots but my monitor has only a single vga port so I need to use a converter so will I get a display lag, screen tearing or any type of display quality effects? So which type of converter is better hdmi to vga or dvi to vga or should I use the wire which has dvi to vga or hdmi to vga?

The better option would be an HDMI to DVI converter if you can swing it. Almost everything out there that has VGA also has a DVI. Its pretty ancient tech that has been standard for decades.

HDMI to DVI would keep your single in the digital realm and work great.

Yes, you will converting Digital to analog.

Does your GPU have a DVI output? With the four pins around the flat pin? (The four pins around the flat pin in the DVI output is actually an analog signal. You can get a DVI to VGA adapter that will be true analog to analog conversion).

Could you please list what monitor and GPU you have? If you don't have the answers to my questions

your card has got a dvi-I as all NVidia cards do so it will support analog easy - what happened to the cable that came with the monitor ??

you could use the dvi-I to vga adaptor that came with your vid card [like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5WW31F5623&cm_re=dvi_to_vga-_-14-998-101-_-Product ] and this cable ?? [example] and should be fine ?? if the vga input on the monitor is female ??? [cable in link is 2 male ends]

vga is not superior over digital but should run smooth and fine I still use older crt monitors with a vga connection with out any issue

I could not find a picture of your monitor that shows the input panel to see what it really has to use or any spec sheet fully explaining this so I'm still guessing at your needs ??

this is all Samsung offered ??

I do 100% feel that going from the cards dvi-I to the monitors vga is your best bet and that's the way I would go with it
