I'm looking for insight/help with a problem I'm having.

I have a camera that specifically needs a 1000baseT connection in order to communicate over gigabit. The access points we use with the cameras are limited to 10/100 (Ubiquiti Picostation M2). The camera cannot use anything other than its stated spec.

Is there a chip or converter that currently exists that could do this? Where would I need to begin looking if it doesn't?

Thank you for any insight.

there is no way you are going to get 1 GB speed over wireless.

however there is a workaround that may work. you will have to buy a 5 port gigabit switch, they are pretty cheap.
your setup will look like this:

Ubiquiti Picostation M2 <-> 5 port gigabit switch <-> camera.

This 1000baseT requirement stems from either the NIC or firmware on the camera. It isn't so much about achieving that speed of data transportation as it is just getting a proper hand shake from the camera's port to the access point.

I'm familiar with using a switch to do this. However, given how the cameras can typically be used, we'd prefer to find/resource something that is more compact.

You need a cable for this and a 1gb switch. Or get cameras with less odd requirements.
