Does a GIGABYTE GA-F2A88X-D3H motherboard need Flashing before use with a Kaveri AMD A8-7600?

Hi,

Sorry if I posed this in the wrong place, I'm new to the Tom's Hardware forums.

Anyway, I am planning on building a light weight gaming PC, and of course, I decided to list my components on pcpartpicker.com, because, why not? It's a cool web site!

My two main components:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-F2A88X-D3H
CPU: AMD A8-7600 Kaveri

But I noticed that pcpartpicker.com found the following incompatibility:
"Some AMD A88X chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaveri CPUs"

At first, I simply dismissed this, but on futher research, I found that this meant that I might have to buy another, older CPU in order to flash the BIOS to work with the 7600.

This is a problem, as I am on a tight budget and cannot afford to buy another CPU just to flash the motherboard.

I would like to keep the CPU I have but I can still find another motherboard.

My questions are:
1. Will I have to worry about this problem?
2. If it is an issue, Can I just pick another motherboard?
3. If I needed to pick another motherboard, what would be a good ASUS or Gigabyte motherboard under $75 with an FM2+ socket that wouldn't have this issue?
4. Are there any work-arounds instead of buying another CPU?

I am happy to accept any answers, please let me know If I should have posted elsewhere :)

Thanks,
-B

Thanks clutchc, I greatly appreciate your feedback!

About it being a generic warning, Yes and No, I think. This is because, while researching this problem, I encountered several people who actually had this problem. But most of the time, they had space AMD CPU's laying around to do the update with.

I do not want to take ANY risks though and would almost rather select another motherboard to avoid this altogether.

Thanks though,

But how far back were those folks writing about their issues? I'm betting it was quite awhile back.

You are very right, I didn't consider the dates at which the posts where written. And yes,I do prefer Asus over gigabyte.

I think I am going to try and avoid that specific motherboard altogether, so I'm going with the Asus X88A PLUS. It's cheaper to.

Thanks,

Yeah, I'm going to go with the A88X PLUS.
Any thoughts?
I would expect that even though I still get the same incompatibility warning from pcpartpicker.com, this motherboard will work.

Thanks, I think I can call this problem solved!

If you look at the CPU support list for that board, you'll see that the A8-7600 requires a 1402 or later BIOS. It looks like there have been several later BIOS updates since then. So, you should have no worries.
