Hi,
Sorry if I posed this in the wrong place, I'm new to the Tom's Hardware forums.
Anyway, I am planning on building a light weight gaming PC, and of course, I decided to list my components on pcpartpicker.com, because, why not? It's a cool web site!
My two main components:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-F2A88X-D3H
CPU: AMD A8-7600 Kaveri
But I noticed that pcpartpicker.com found the following incompatibility:
"Some AMD A88X chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaveri CPUs"
At first, I simply dismissed this, but on futher research, I found that this meant that I might have to buy another, older CPU in order to flash the BIOS to work with the 7600.
This is a problem, as I am on a tight budget and cannot afford to buy another CPU just to flash the motherboard.
I would like to keep the CPU I have but I can still find another motherboard.
My questions are:
1. Will I have to worry about this problem?
2. If it is an issue, Can I just pick another motherboard?
3. If I needed to pick another motherboard, what would be a good ASUS or Gigabyte motherboard under $75 with an FM2+ socket that wouldn't have this issue?
4. Are there any work-arounds instead of buying another CPU?
I am happy to accept any answers, please let me know If I should have posted elsewhere
Thanks,
-B
