OK, so here's my issue. My computer currently has 16 gb of ram, and i want to upgrade to 20 gb for better multi-tasking. But every time I try that, the computer doesn't turn on...Well, it turn's on, but nothing on screen. So i'm beginning to think the problem might be that the ram i'm trying to install is made by a different company, and is much cheaper than the ram that is in it right now. The ram that is in it now is the same speed, (1600 mhz) as the stuff that will not work, and the ram that works is two sticks of 8gb, and the ram i'm trying to install is two sticks of 2gb. i'm starting to ramble on here now, so if anyone can maybe shed some light on the situation, thatud' be great. thx.

It sounds like your ram timings are different now you should never mix ram because timings and ram power requirements 1.5 volts and some need 1.6 volts but I have mixed ram with no issues but I had to set the ram timings manually and voltage manually not auto because it's causes conflict no boot black screen or freeze look at the voltage setting on each ram and match it in the bios if all ram is 1.5 volts and some is 1.6 volts set them all to 1.6 volts and look at the timings if some are 8-8-8-24 and some are 9-9-9-24 set them all to the 9 timings it's a trial and error thing so good luck
