Question about my gpu connectors to the psu

I bought the EVGA 750 watt gold plus 80 and the MSI R9 390 GPU.

R9 390 has 2x 6 pin holes.
The psu has 8 pin holes separately for VGA1, VGA2, VGA3, and VGA4.

I have two separate 6 pin to 8 pin cables. Will it work if I fit the 2 separate cables to VGA1 and VGA2? Or do I need a Y connector with 2x 6 pins on one end and 1x 8 pin on the other end?

Thank you in advance!

Plug one cable into VGA 1 and another into VGA 2. Do not use a Y cable. The other end of the cables have 6+2 connectors, you just don't need to use the +2 part. Take the 6+2 pin connectors from each of them and plug them into the 6 pin connectors on the card.
