Okay I'm not sure if this question fits in this category, but I wasn't sure where else an audio question would go.

Anyway, I've recently bought the Razer Kraken Pro Neon Yellow edition headset, and I've been using it on my PC which has an Asus M5A78L-USB3 motherboard, and I've been using the onboard audio for it.

When I first used them, I thought that they weren't as clear and crisp as my previous ones, but they are very good with bass (even though on my PC the bass was sometimes a bit too much for the headset). However I decided to plug them into my mobile phone (iPhone 5c) and when listening to music on there, it was completely crisp and the bass was smooth no matter what the volume. I was a little bit shocked.

Why is there a magnificent sound difference on my iPhone compared to my PC (which I'm sure is what they were originally designed for). I've updated the latest drivers on the headset, and it's still the same.

I don't know if it's worth noting, but when using the headphones on PC it requires a splitter that splits the headphone and the mic into seperate jacks, whereas on my phone it's just the jack without a splitter. Surely that can't be the reason for the loss of sound quality?

I was thinking also, is it possible that it's the onboard audio on my PC? Should I buy a PCI sound card? Would that increase the quality? I'm not very good with audio or anything like that, so answers would be highly appreciated!

Thank you :)

If your using Razer Synapse (their audio software) you may have checked off bass boost or fiddled with some other options. If not, maybe check out the software for your motherboard audio.
